Hello There!
Well, today is my first official day of my morning walks that need to be finished by 7:00 am so I don't melt in this Las Vegas heat!!
I am committing, to start, to 21 days of walking 20 minutes. Fortunately, I do love to walk and I prefer to walk outside than on a treadmill (which I compare to all the excitement of watching paint dry). I need to, as Carol King would say, "Feel the Earth Move Under my Feet" and see scenery change.
I live in a nice community that allows me to do a lap around at just shy of 1mile. In rain orbad weather, we have 3 clubhouses that have workout rooms when I HAVE to use the treadmills. So, NO EXCUSES!
This morning, I broke out my trusty little manual pedometer that was collecting dust and sure enough, it didn't work. I am sure it died a death of disappointment and neglect.
I don't know how my brain did it, but somehow it DID kick in at 6:00 am and I looked at my iPod Touch and said, "Hey, There's an App for That!!". Love that Apple subliminal programming;)
I found this great app by Palm Shadow called "Foot Steps" that tracks your mileage, pace, calories burned, keeps a history and also allows you to import your music library to the app so you can enjoy all your favorite tunes while you exercise. They have a free version and the paid version with more features is $0.99 for the moment. BRILLIANT!!
Launch song: "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai.
First day out of the gate, 21 minutes, 1572 steps (.68 mile) & 126 calories.
Today I AM Ingenious. What are YOU Today?

Hey Tracey, Love the new blog and am anxious to follow along on your journey! Since breaking my arm in October, walking is a scary thing -- but I'm getting this app and giving it a new shot! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Hi Kathy,
Thank you for following along and for your support:-)!!
The walking is great, even just slow for a little while but having the music and being able to track your progress on this app is so beneficial.
Greetings from Miami!
I have just dropped a big 99 cents on the paid version of Footsteps. Gotta love iPhone/iPad Apps.
I'll let you know how it works out for me.
Andy
Andy,
The app is good but there a few little tricks to making sure it records and keeps your exercise history.
Make sure you always have it on Manual display, lock the screen and always make sure to "save & reset" after every session.
Enjoy!
